Take a look at our awesome bee experience over the last two weeks. We were so lucky today that Miss Lisa brought in a real honeycomb for us to see and taste! mmm, how delicious!

Week 2 learning
I have been so impressed with all of the learning Room 16 has been doing this week, you've been sending me so many pictures I haven't had time to collect them altogether!
Here are just some of the amazing things Room 16 children have been up to this week:

Awesome job developing your understanding of the book 'Oh, no!' Rara. You've really challenged yourself to read it and I'm very proud of you!
Waris has been up to a multitude of things including building her own fort/castle and practicing her 'oo' sounds. She has been joining in with lots of meets as well. Well done lovely!
Robert has been doing lots and lots of work over our online learning. He is so excited to try our science experiments that he sometimes even does them in our online meets! Here is some of Robert's maths work from our maths afternoon session on Tuesday Robert (alongside Waris) helped me to work out how much $4 + $4 would be and what we could buy with it!Here is Boston's science experiment! He is doing our experiment from when we added food coloring, oil, and water together. It looks like it was a big success, awesome job Boston!
Here is Aqua doing her science experiment at home too. It turned out beautifully and Aquarius looks like she was concentrating very hard. Brilliant job!
I know a lot of you are working really hard at home both online and on home learning packs. Thank you all the adults and lovely children for putting in such a lot of effort and pulling together to make our ODL awesome!
I can't wait to see you all on Monday.

Scientist Robert and his writing
Here is a fantastic picture by Robert who wrote his sentence:
'I think the water will turn colourful' and a drew a picture of his skittles. I think Robert has tried super hard and he should be very proud of himself!
Did anyone else write a sentence like Robert? I'd love to see.

Term Topic: Money
If you'd like to be more involved with your child in this then have a look at the ideas below!
- Show your child different coins and currency that you might have with you. What do the different colours mean?
- Let your child hand money to a cashier and talk about the change you get back.
-Look at food receipts with your child and figure out how much everything cost.
-Practice using 'niceties' when shopping such as saying, please, thank you and excuse me to retail staff.
On Monday we set up Room 16 as a supermarket and labelled all of our items depending on how much value the children felt they had. We had some interesting ideas! My favourite was certainly that our classroom television cost only 6 dollars.
We dressed up as shop keepers and customers then shopped around for items in the classroom. We had to make sure we had to right amount of money, and that we were responsible and looked after it carefully!
Check out our pictures below :)

Reward time: Respect (Manakitanga)
The reward we decided upon was to have a class picnic! We knew we had to be super careful of germs, especially right now, so we had separate cups and plates. We remembered to wash our hands and our teachers and teaching aides helped give us food using gloves.
We were also lucky enough to share our jump jam time with RM15 and their teacher Mrs Andrews. Jump jam is important in getting our bodies moving. Even if we find it tricky we always try our best! Have a look at our pictures of us dancing and enjoying our well earned picnic!
Enjoy the long weekend everyone.

Maths Madness
we have had a great first week back and have had lots of time to discover our new classroom and all of the exciting bits inside of it! This week we have been exploring our maths' drawers which have lots of activities in, designed to further both our maths' knowledge and some of our key competencies such as managing self, and communicating with others.
Have a look below at our super pictures!
Have a great weekend, and I will see you all on Monday.

Week 4 Day 3 - Heidi and Aquarius work
I am loving how enthusiastic all the children are this week! Have a look at some super work below from Heidi and Aquarius.
Aquarius did an awesome job on Tuesday joining in with our small maths group alongside Rara and Robert. We had a look at sharing out 5 dogs into two dog houses, and you can see some of Aquarius' working out below. She has also started working on her dragon for Friday :)
Here is Heidi's picture:
Have an awesome day everyone!

Week 2 Day 5: Make your own uniform day
Have a look below at Miss Rayner's 'make your own uniform' that she was wearing this morning and if you can, send in a picture of the uniforms you made this morning and we can put them on the blog. My uniform had a dressing gown, a pajama top, a pajama bottom, and a pair of fluffy slippers. It's keeping me very warm whilst we work from home! What will yours look like?
Have a great Friday everyone. :)
Love from Miss Rayner and Mrs Bond
