Reward time: Respect (Manakitanga)

At PCS we look at the 4 key PB4L features. As we settle back into school we have been focusing on the feature of being respectful. The children identified this as actions such as taking turns, listening to each other, not shouting out, and being careful around their friends.

The reward we decided upon was to have a class picnic! We knew we had to be super careful of germs, especially right now, so we had separate cups and plates. We remembered to wash our hands and our teachers and teaching aides helped give us food using gloves.

We were also lucky enough to share our jump jam time with RM15 and their teacher Mrs Andrews. Jump jam is important in getting our bodies moving. Even if we find it tricky we always try our best! Have a look at our pictures of us dancing and enjoying our well earned picnic!
Enjoy the long weekend everyone.

Maths Madness

Kia Ora everyone,
we have had a great first week back and have had lots of time to discover our new classroom and all of the exciting bits inside of it! This week we have been exploring our maths' drawers which have lots of activities in, designed to further both our maths' knowledge and some of our key competencies such as managing self, and communicating with others.
Have a look below at our super pictures!

Have a great weekend, and I will see you all on Monday.

Healthy habits in RM16

We're so excited to see the majority of our children back in school this week. It's difficult trying to readjust back into school life for many of us but one thing  RM16 have really excelled at so far this week is their hygiene practices. We have had lots of discussions on how germs move, and how important it is to always wash our hands when we enter the classroom.

Now we know:
We wash our hands when we walk into the room.
We wash our hands when we walk out of the room.
We wash our hands before eating food.
We wash our hands if we forget and accidentally give our friends a high five or hug.
We cough into our elbows.
We sneeze into our elbows.
We give our friends space.
We don't touch our eyes/mouths/nose (not even to pick it!).
We know to give our friends space to keep them safe.

But sometimes we do forget, and that's okay! But with the help of our adults at home and our friends and teachers in school we are sure to keep up the good work.

 More updates to come soon,
Lots of love, Miss Rayner

Aquarius -  How creative have you been Aquarius! I love the rainbow colored Jellyfish you have made. Keep it up!

Te Aupouri - So awesome to see you at the meet today Te Aupouri. I am super proud of the amount of work you have been doing and I'm glad you're having an awesome time at home with your family!
Isaac - These pictures show you have been working hard Isaac and having fun whilst you've been doing it! You're doing amazing!

That's all for now Room 16. We're all going to get to see each other fairly soon which is very exciting, but for now stay safe and happy.

Week 4 Day 4

Hello amigos,

Today we already have some awesome work to share from Room 16, and I was blown away by the work that children brought to the meet this morning! You guys are such Rockstars, keep it up!

Don't forget that tomorrow we won't be reading Dragons Dragons Dragons again as we are doing Show and Tell of our dragons that we have made, as well as giving out certificates for the week and having a bit of a boogie to a song of the children's choice.

Have a look below at the work sent in so far:
